My name is Jailyn and this is my first year at FSU. Although I'm technically a freshman, I was previously dual-enrolled throughout highschool and have already achieved my AA degree. My major is currently Elementary Education, but I am planning to switch to Social Work. I enjoy fishing and other outdoor activities, along with playing with my three cats, Bandit, Cheddar, and Milo. 

    As a previously dual-enrolled student, I am familiar with Canvas and tools such as Microsoft Word and Outlook. I have used these platforms while attending classes online and completing assignments. I enjoy using these platforms because they are easy to navigate and I am ecstatic that FSU partakes in these platforms as well. I feel these platforms were essential in making college life easier to understand and navigate. 

    A platform I use that aids in my learning is Quizlet. Quizlet allows me to create private study sets to prepare for classes. It is useful in that it has different ways to help you learn. For example, it allows you to learn the material using a flashcard technique, practice tests, matching, etc.

     1. My experience using Microsoft Word is slim. I only recently started using Microsoft Word as a word processing software during my dual-enrolled courses at Gulf Coast State College and now at Florida State University. I have experienced distance learning throughout Covid-19 and classes I take that are online rather than in person. Something I like about my distance learning experience is that I can kind of go at my own pace. For example, how quickly I can work through assignments or if I need a break, its possible to take one. However, something I dislike about distance learning is that it is more difficult for me to communicate with the teacher and understand as well as I could in an actual classroom setting. When I am a teacher, I can make sure the students are understanding and provide them with outside resources that could help them. As well as reaching out periodically to make sure they are on track.       From working on the Web design assignment, I acquired new technological skills such as how to create and design a website, how to make it function, what kind of information to include on a teacher website, and became more familiarized with technological tools. I liked how challenging this assignment was. Throughout this class, I have learned more about technology than ever before.
