Blog Journal #2

    1. My experience using Microsoft Word is slim. I only recently started using Microsoft Word as a word processing software during my dual-enrolled courses at Gulf Coast State College and now at Florida State University. During high school, I was more familiar with other platforms such as Google Docs. We used this platform to complete assignments and write essays. Although I am more familiar with Google Docs, I have grown to prefer Microsoft Word.

    2. The standard that is most meaningful to me from the ISTE Standards for Educators is the third standard, model digital age work and learning. This standard highlights the importance of not only educators using technology in the classroom, but also modeling it to the students and how it can be a tool for learning. This standard is important is important for K-12 educators because it aids them in teaching essential material more effectively. This also prepares students for college and jobs in the future by being able to confidently navigate technology.

    3. I agree with the use of the label "digital native." The term digital native implies that today's youth has always been around technology and has grown up with advancing technology and are able to quickly adapt to the use of these tools. I have seen a difference in my generation using technology and my teachers throughout the years. Not all, but many teachers are slow to the concept of technology and aren't sure how to navigate it. Therefore, throughout my educational career, I have observed many teachers sticking with what they know rather than branching out and trying to use different technological tools. I feel my learning experience has been negatively impacted by this, because I'm not as familiar with learning tools as I could've been. I feel that since technology is ever-changing and rapidly, it may be hard to keep up with what my future students are familiar with, as far as technology.
